ABOUT

Joel Ofori is a London-based composer. He primarily composes for film and animation, drawing from several influences such as the romantic-era composer Dvořák and contemporary Japanese animation and video-game soundtracks. These influences are reflected in his works, which are heavily melody and harmony-focused, with an emphasis on combining orchestral and synthesized sounds.

He is a recent graduate of the Royal College of Music in London, where he obtained a master’s degree in Composition for Screen studying under Kate Simko and Dr. Dimitri Scarlato. Joel’s music has been recorded at Angel Studios UK, and he has worked with many instrumentalists across multiple projects to bring his works to life. Joel is an alumna of the Sound and Music Summer School for Young Composers, where he explored his passion for music composition at an early age. During this intensive course, he learned about various approaches to composition, such as taking a more aleatoric and instrumental technique-focused approach.
